Description:

Internet of Things (IoT) has become the essential building block of smart city. The robust establishment of IoT provides the efficient building blocks for data collection and aggregation. The supplement and manifestation of artificial intelligence, edge computing, big data, anti cyber attack measures… etc will inevitably bombard fruitful applications and usages. In essence, there will be tons of IoT connections in the near future and massive IoT connections will be established. As such, ways to measure IoT performance will be crucial to the development of IoT solution, in particular for smart cities. At this point, not much attention has been drawn to the fact that there is NO universal standard on smart sensors nor concrete measures to combat IoT security. The upcoming the IEEE P2668 IoT Maturity Index (IDex) will tackle this issue and quantify IoT performance, from physical layer features to security. IDex will proliferate IoT Best Practices which is important for the industry.

Smart sensors are the building blocks of IoT. In this webinar, Carmen will discuss the tasks of Science Park on building a vibrant sensor ecosystem via Sensor Lab and Hub. KF will discuss the use and adoption of the IEEE P2668 (including IEEE P1451) to help improve the development of IoT solutions. Use cases and development with industry partners including China Mobile HK, Defra, Science Park, ..etc and partners in GBA will be briefed. This talk is a succession to Dr Tsang’s briefing of IDex during HKES2020 in July 2020.
