Last
year, The Hong Kong Computer Emergency Response Team Coordination Centre
(HKCERT, 香港電腦保安事故協調中心) of the Hong Kong
Productivity Council (HKPC) handled 8,393 security incidents, an increase of 9%
over 2021, the first increase in four years. The most significant incident was
Botnet (4,858 cases), up 40% from 2021; the second major incident was phishing
(2,946 cases), which was 21% lower than in 2021, but the number of URLs
involved (15,736 links) increased by 4%, with more than 60% of them related to
e-commerce, online banking and cryptocurrency.
HKCERT identified five major information security risks that public must
pay attention to in 2023:

Attacks Utilising A.I.
3.
Crime as a Service
4.
Cyber Attacks Targeting Web 3.0
5.
Attacks Arisen from Widespread Application of IoT

in Hong Kong in 2022 and release the security forecast for 2023 and provide a
deep-dive presentation on IoT cybersecurity vulnerabilities.

Biography of Speaker:
Mr. Alex
Chan is the General Manager, Digital Transformation at the Hong
Kong Productivity Council (HKPC). Joined HKPC in 2020, Alex is a seasoned
IT consultancy professional with more than 20 years of MNC experience in the
consultancy, utilities and telecommunication industries. Alex currently lead
the units of industry consulting, digital enablement and cybersecurity in HKPC,
including HK Computer Emergency Response Team (HKCERT).
Prior to
joining HKPC, Alex was holding an executive position in Accenture and was
responsible for technology consulting and industry advisory.
Alex has extensive experience in delivering and managing various types of
projects, including digital transformation, IT strategy, design thinking
transformation, mobile application development, complex system implementation
and business process reengineering.
Alex
received his Bachelor of Information Engineering and Master of Electronic
