AbstractVideo analytics is the automated digital processing and analysis of
video contents generated and collected during video surveillance. It involves a large volume of video data
produced through video surveillance systems in industries, city surveillance,
and collected from other sources such as social media sites. Its application is enabled with the
availability of affordable storage, high speed computers, cloud computing and
advancement in video applications.
Video analytics automates video surveillance processes and delivers
high-end benefits to the users at reduced cost with efficient service delivery.
Increase in demand for automation drives
the demand for video analytics across various industries such as banking,
financial services, retail, airports, manufacturing, and others. In addition, increase in concern over safety,
privacy and security also brings in new business opportunities on security
systems and infrastructure.
This seminar will provide an anatomy on the recent developments of
Video Analytics, the technologies involved, and examples of commercial applications.
About the speaker
Ir Ricky Kwong, develops his profession in telecommunications industry
for more than 20 years. He is currently
the Head of Network Planning and Operations of Hong Kong Telecommunications
Limited, looking after the planning and operation of the quad-play network of
HKT. Ricky is also an active member of the
HKIE, and Committee Member of the HKIE IT Division.
