Webinar
Programme Highlights
In Hong Kong, the Smart City Blueprint was
announced in late 2017, which aimed to embrace innovation and technology to
build a world-famed smart Hong Kong. Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the
essential elements that thrives smart city projects. Nowadays, numerous IoT
solutions and applications have been developed using emerging low-power
wide-area (LPWA) protocols, namely LoRa, Sigfox, NB-IoT, etc. These LPWA
protocols provide applications with large-coverage, low-power-consumption, and
low-cost characteristics. When these network scale up, the overheads in the
shared spectrum may be over crowded. As such, the massive IoT connectivity may incur
potential challenges such as interference, request contention, network
coordination, etc. and thus, a network
management should be in place to facilitate efficient harmonization. This
presentation discusses the technical guidelines on large-scale IoT deployment
and utilization. The implementation of pilot testbeds provided insights for the
best practices of IoT harmonization. Finally, the case studies and evaluation
of trial results will be discussed.
The webinar is
supported by HKIE Manufacturing, Industrial and Systems Division, IET Hong Kong
