Date, time & venue

2022-11-30;18:30 - 20:00;Webinar

Programme Highlights:

Hong Kong Electronics Project Competition 2022 is a flagship event organized by the Electronics Division of HKIE. The theme of this year is “Advancing Innovation& Technology in the new Normal”, the award presentation ceremony was conducted in July 2022 and the winners are invited to share their winning projects in this webinar. Topic include the Innovative Technology for IoT-enabled lift in Hong Kong, Smart Digital Initiatives on MTR and Development of Smart Control Device for Domestic Cooking Appliances.

Topic: Innovative Technology for IoT-enabled lift in Hong Kong

Speakers: Mr. Louis YIU (EMSD)

i-EMSD is an advanced IoT device that utilising data analytics and cloud computing technologies. With the advantages of low cost and slim design. This device can effectively trigger advanced alarm signals when abnormal car door operation, poor levelling or unintended car movement is detected, to safeguard passenger's safety.

Topic: Smart Digital Initiatives on MTR

Speakers: Ms LEE Sze Ying Janet (MTR)

MTR have launched different digital initiatives to enable smart city and promote social distancing on Tuen Ma Line and East Rail Line. Train Car Loading Indicator at platform and MTR Mobile APP is calculated by transmitting the real time air pressure value from the Air Bag Pressure Sensors of each train car to the backend for analysis and estimating the number of customers of each car. Smart logic is applied to correlate with the upcoming train on a real-time basis. Customers can refer to three levels of indicators and head for a less crowded car while waiting at the platform. Waiting Time Indicator at concourse and MTR Mobile APP provides the real-time and upcoming three hours estimated waiting time by collecting real-time images and analyses the instant passenger flow with AI Technology at target platform. Machine Neural Network has been applied to predict the upcoming waiting time from historical data and instant external factors. Customers can refer to the waiting time of the platforms to plan their journey. Real-time Dashboard consolidates and analyzes the data for real time monitoring at the back office as such to facilitate dynamic train service and crowd control under new normal and during incident handling. It also supports big data analysis for further strategic service planning and enhancement. The digital infinitives embrace and contribute to the Government's vision on Smart City and Smart Mobility and promote social distancing channel the passenger to less crowded routes under new normal brought about by COVID-19 pandemic.

Topic: Development of Smart Control Device for Domestic Cooking Appliances

Speakers: Mr. Dexter Hong (Towngas)

Smart control device is developed to provide most features of smart stove with more competitive cost. Without replacing new smart stove, the device can be retrofitted to current gas installation and adding smart features such as monitoring stove status and timer control to existing cooking appliance. Not only the device allows customers to experience smart kitchen in advance by supplementing the transition period of smart stove, but more importantly enhances gas safety to cooking appliance. Once the user forgets to turn off stove and leaves home, the device will send leave home alert to users, provided with remote turn off function, which safeguard users during cooking and prevent accidents happening. In the future, smart control device can also intercommunicate with other kitchen appliances such as range hood to perform hood & hob interaction, and create a more comprehensive cooking environment to all users.
