Technical Visit: Technical Challenges of OTT Service in Broadcasting Grade {FULL}

Programme Highlights 

OTT stands for “over-the-top,” the term used for the delivery of film and TV content via the internet, without requiring users to subscribe to a traditional pay-TV service. Having achieved initial success since its launch in April 2016, myTV SUPER is on its way to becoming Hong Kong’s largest OTT online video platform for long-form video content. This service is available through mobile devices, STB, web-based devices. Stable viewing experience, excellent picture quality, adaptive backend system and well-recognized security measurements are the key technical factors to the remarkable adoption rate for myTV SUPER. In this technical visit, the major technical challenges, TV viewing behavioral shift and OTT performance measurement and future development for OTT are covered.  Technical presentation & discussion will be arranged during the visit as below:

  1. Various playout system and pattern for daily programme playout in Master Control Room,
  2. Graphic presentation and subtitling,
  3. Signal processing and copy right handling,
  4. Transcoding, Compression and Modulation systems.

Mr. Andy Cheung

Mr. Andy Cheung is a Chief Engineer of Broadcasting Department in Engineering Division. He has taken care of the overall broadcasting playout, Media Networking & TV Master Control systems on TV Broadcasting platform for years.

 

Ir Rex CHING

Ir CHING is the Head of Technical Engineering at MyTV Super Ltd. He has cross experience for OTT, IPTV, information technology and telecommunication industries for years.

This seminar is free of charge, prior registration is required.  Only HKIE members are eligible to join.The number of participants is limited to 20 and applications will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis. Priority will be given to members of EN division.
