"Smart Battery Energy
Storage System on Premises", jointly organised by Huawei International Co.
Limited, HKIE-END and HKIE-MMNC
Date, Time & Venue
21-Feb-2023 (Tuesday); 18:00-19:30; Webinar
Programme Highlights
With the acceleration of the global
electrification process, the demand for electricity will continue to rise. By
2050, the annual electricity yield of the world will reach 55,000 TWh, in which
renewable energy will account for 86%. However, renewable energy is
intermittent, fluctuating, and uncontrollable. Feeding in renewable energy into
power grids in large volumes will bring severe impact on the safe and stable
operation of the power grids. To address this challenge, energy storage can be
used to implement frequency regulation, voltage support, and peak load
regulation during power transmission and distribution. Energy storage can also be used to reserve
power for outages, address transmission congestion, minimize the capacity
expansion needs of power transmission and distribution networks, and serve as
DC power sources of substations. Therefore, energy storage technology is a key
for renewable energy to become a main energy source.
